Is my child a candidate for telemedicine?
Many types of visits can be conducted via telemedicine as easily as in the office. Nevertheless, some visits are better done in person. Contact the Children's Clinic team to see if your child can participate in a telemedicine visit. Their triage nurse can determine if your child can be seen through telemedicine or would benefit from an in-office visit based on your child's current health issues, symptoms, and medical history.
The team may recommend a telemedicine appointment if your child is a patient of the practice and has an acute illness that the team can diagnose based on their history and if they have recent vitals such as your child’s temperature and body weight.
Your child may also be a candidate for telemedicine if they take regular medication to manage a chronic health condition and need a refill.
Your child may also benefit from a telemedicine appointment if you’re unable to bring them to the office because of lack of time or transportation or concerns about their personal health and well-being.

What can I expect during a telemedicine visit?

They may also request diagnostic data to further assess your child’s health and well-being, like their body temperature, height, weight, or heart rate.
After the consultation, your child’s pediatrician provides treatment recommendations. They may request an in-office visit or lab tests to confirm or rule out a diagnosis if more information is needed.
Once your child’s treatment plan is in place, their pediatrician may schedule follow-up appointments through their telemedicine service.
